May Market Activity - '00 to '09

The charts above show the number of closed sales in the month of May of each year, ‘01 through ‘09, and the number of homes for sale on the last day of the month.

At the bottom of the charts, you will see the number of months it would take for the homes to sell at that month’s rate of sales, plus the average percentage of list price received by sellers is also shown.

This month: The local real estate market moved from a “buyers’ market” to a “balanced market” for the first time in 2009 during the month of May.  

Bottom line: Currently in our market area the supply of homes for sale and buyer demand is in balance.

If you are thinking of selling your home it is once again a good time to do so.

There is still above average inventory of homes for sale, but hurry to take advantage of very favorable interest rates.
